It’s very important to us that our guests have the best stay in the Hermanus Hideaway, and we are delighted to share some of their comments with you here.

I can highly recommend spending some down time at this beautiful holiday house in Kwaaiwater, Hermanus! From the sumptuous breakfasts to the most comfortable bed I have ever slept on, it was a weekend of good memories all the way! I especially loved being outdoors under the covered patio overlooking the sparkling lap pool. I never got tired of staring at the imposing mountain from my comfortable spot on the couch. It certainly is the perfect place to kick back, relax and enjoy yourself preferably with a glass of wine in hand. As if this is not enough, there is a whole different world on the other side of the house! The doors open directly onto the Cliff paths and a panoramic view of the ocean awaits which can be enjoyed from the comfort of a wooden bench or you can take a leisurely stroll into town following the cliff paths all the way. It is here that you understand where the name “Kwaaiwater” originates as you watch the waves crash onto the rocks and shoreline in spectacular fashion! There is plenty to keep oneself occupied in the house too if pool is your thing and hanging out around the bar was fun. The lounge looked inviting for a quiet spot to read a book and enjoy the sea view in comfort. The kitchen and dining room are enormous accommodating large groups in style with restaurant quality food on offer. If you can tear yourself away from the house there are great restaurants in the vicinity to discover as well as beautiful beaches to enjoy on your doorstep. I can’t wait to return!

From the moment we drove up the drive of the house we were impressed! The house is set back with a beautiful pool and entertainment area at the front and a nice sized lawn for kids to play (or adults in our instance ☺).
The décor of the house is tasteful yet relaxed, it does not feel so precious that you cannot kick back and relax.
The bedrooms are beautifully decorated and have stunning views of the sea. The large kitchen is perfect for accommodating a large group, but can also be cosy enough for a smaller group.
The staff are brilliant, the food we were served was top notch and just as tasty as any 5 star restaurant would serve.
The icing on the cake is that the house is only about 2 hours from Cape Town so it is perfect for a weekend away. If you want a place to relax in style and comfort then this is the place for you!

After a stress free drive from Cape Town (limited traffic) we were warmly welcomed by Myra and Zelda who give us a tour of the house. We were instantly impressed and felt at home straight away..even though it’s a B&B, Myra offered to make us a light lunch.. a superb salad, served on the patio overlooking the sea!

The property is well positioned with close access to the beach, the cliff paths and within walking distance to Lizette’s (a superb resturant). I was in the main bedroom which has a great view over the sea, and I must add that the bathrooms were exceptional.. plenty of space!

The dining room has a huge table which seats 14. A good space to sit and discuss what’s gone wrong with out sporting teams. There is also a great braai /entertainment area around the pool.

What I particularly liked was that there were plenty of spots around the house that you could sit if you felt like some alone time.. the lounge has a patio with great views over the sea, the large table in the the dining room, braai area, and the entertainment where the pool table and the tv is (never quiet worked out how to connect up all the equipment hahaha). There is also a roof top patio/deck overlooking the pool.

The house is very tastefully furnished and certainly inspired me to what is possible. There are 4 double rooms which would be great for a group of friends to get away for the weekend, and a few bunk beds for kids.

Would i visit again? Just try and stop me! ☺

One last word.. Myra and Zelda made us feel very welcome and nothing was too much trouble.. she is a superb cook – her venison pie was the best I’ve ever had!
